Salary: GBP40000 – GBP50000 per annum + bonus + benefits
Unix Systems Administrator – Cardiff – £40k-£50k Unix Systems Administrator required for a leading Global Software House currently developing a next generation software platform providing the delivery of applications and services for the emerging mobile banking markets. The Unix Systems Administrator will be part of a technical team responsible for R&D, design, implementation and support of global banking services to mobile markets across a multitude of end clients. This client is going from strength to strength and currently undergoing continued growth due to tried and tested success with household retail banks in the UK money markets. Key Duties & Responsibilities – Unix Systems Administrator > Implementation and configuration of company infrastructure > Configuration and maintenance of highly available architectures > Administration, troubleshooting and configuration of QA, test and development systems > Scripting, automation and integration work > 3rd line support of infrastructure for company products > Involvement in migrations of various systems, physically and logically > Implementation of new products and systems Candidate Requirements – Unix Systems Administrator > Extensive experience as a systems administrator/engineer in a commercial environment, dealing with business critical, high availability services > Detailed knowledge of Solaris 10 > Extensive experience with Java web application servers and related technologies (e.g. Sun, Tomcat, GlassFish, Apache) > Detailed knowledge of x86 and SPARC hardware > Knowledge and experience with Sun Cluster, Veritas Cluster or similar technology > Practical experience of scripting (shell and/or perl) > Excellent communication skills as role is business-facing > Ability to proactively take ownership of problems and manage them from end-to-end.
